I was lucky enough to see The Script last week thanks to my boyfriend who bought me tickets for Christmas. A few years ago, I listened to The Script pretty obsessively, but they faded into the background until I saw their tour advertised late last year – so I started listening again. Granted their music is a little bit cheese and heartbreak oriented, although I’m also a sucker for Scouting for Girls, so I’d say they’re my guilty pleasure.
I absolutely love their first three albums: The Script (2008), Science & Faith (2010) and #3 (2012). They have some of their best tracks including Nothing, Six Degrees of Separation, Breakeven, For the First Time and The Man Who Can’t Be Moved (an obvious, unmissable choice). After opening my present and finding out I was going to see them live, I started listening to their other albums. I wouldn’t say I like these as much, their earlier stuff is still my favourite. There are still some songs I really enjoy on each album, so I’m sure their newer stuff will grow on me. If you’re like me and haven’t really kept up to date, give The Last Time, Flares and Arms Open a listen.
I enjoyed every second of seeing them live. They were so great to watch, brought such a good atmosphere and got involved with the crowd. Unfortunately for me, they didn’t play Six Degrees of Separation, but they played all my other favourites. If I had the opportunity, I’d definitely see them again!
